The Rides
Our rides cover more of the high country than any other tour. During
the months of November through April most rides begin at Higgins
Hut on the Bennison Plains, which, at 5000 feet above sea level,
is set in the true High Country of Australia. The hut is an original
Cattleman's hut belonging to the Higgins family and is still used
today by mountain cattlemen when droving and mustering. The hut
incorporates a bunkhouse which has comfortable beds and a wood heater
to ensure warm nights rest. The hut also has hot showers and septic
toilet facilities.
On the extended rides we follow the spectacular scenery from "The
Man from Snowy River" movies including Craig's Hut; alternately we visit Lake Tarli
Karng, the hidden lake nestled deep within the mountains. We also
visit historical Wonnangatta Station and the Bogong High Plains
area.
During the months of May, June and October the rides run in and
around the picturesque Licola Valley. We visit places such as Mt
Lookout, Mt Selma, Mt Matlock, Horse Hill Range, The Connors High
Plains, Woods Point Pub and Walhalla or Coopers Creek Pub.
PLEASE NOTE:
As we ride at higher altitudes in the summer months, daily maximum temperatures range between 22'-27' C.
